Domain management and DNS records

Your domain(s), i.e. the name of your IP address such as holidaypark.com, are managed and registered with a domain registrar. They are configured with specific technical settings known as DNS records.

Domain management

You can either let us manage your domain(s) or do so yourself. We recommend that we handle the registration and DNS settings. That way, you can easily go live with a website and set up BEX emails. We will automate these processes for you and take care of the configurations.

You are not obliged to move your domains to us or let us manage them. The choice is yours.

Managed by BEX

When you start with Booking Experts, we therefore recommend to also move your domain to us during the onboarding process. The only thing you then need to do is to add your domain in your organisation settings via the ‘+New’ button. Click on ‘Check’ to register or transfer the domain.

If your domain is already registered somewhere else, the option to transfer will appear. If you own the registration, you can provide us with a transfer code and an export of your existing DNS settings and we will move the registration to us.

We will then take care of the rest, like registering your domain and entering your DNS setting. This also means we can help you when your website is down or other technical problems arise.

If you use managed email from your hosting company, we can’t handle the registration. We recommend switching to Office 365 or Gmail before starting with Booking Experts. If you make the switch, you can transfer your domain and we can handle the registration and such for you.

Managed by yourself

This essentially means that your current system administrator will continue to manage your domain. Connect your domain to the BEX PMS via the ‘+New’ button.

You will be fully responsible for your registration and DNS settings. We cannot offer support for troubleshooting DNS settings or expired registrations, even if your website is down.

DNS settings

Once the domain is registered, the DNS settings can be configured.

When you want to go live with your website, add a subdomain or change the email address from which PMS emails are sent, you need these DNS settings.

Managed by BEX

When we manage your domain, you won’t need to change your DNS settings manually; this process will be automated. If you have an IT partner, we can set up an IT manager role. This way, your IT partner can handle the DNS settings themselves if anything needs to be done.

Managed by yourself

If you manage your domain yourself, we won’t edit DNS settings in your registrar. If you need help, you have to ask your own hosting company. You can share the link of the status page of your domains via domains and the button ‘Status’. This way, you or your system administrator can change the settings.
