Cost item for French tourist tax without classification

In France, the tourist tax to be paid is calculated as a fixed amount per person per night, where the amount depends on the classification of the rented accommodation.

This classification is assigned by Atout France. Check their (french-language) website to see if your accommodation needs to have a classification.

It may happen that your accommodation has no classification. In that case, the amount of tourist tax must be calculated in a different way, based on a percentage of the rent and in proportion to the number of adult guests.

  1. Create a new mandatory cost.

  2. Set the global cost type to 'Tourist tax'.

  3. Set the price calculation to 'percentage of base rent amount'.

  4. Enter the correct percentage as the default price.

However, this amount cannot be higher than the amount that would be paid if the accommodation had the highest classification. Therefore, a maximum must be entered as well.

  1. Select 'Apply minimum or maximum price'.

  2. Set the price calculation to 'Maximum price per guest per night'.

  3. Select 'Seniors' and 'Adults' as the persons to be taken into account.

  4. Behind the default price percentage, enter the fixed limit amount that applies to the highest classification.
