Exchanging a map image

You can replace the image of your park map, for example after a redesign, without placing all object markers again. BEX PMS keeps your markers when the new image has the same file name and the same size as the old one.

Prepare the new map image

Go to Setup > Map. In the panel next to the map, check two values of the current map:

• Image: the file name. Give the new file exactly the same name and extension. Capitals count, and .jpg is not the same as .jpeg.

• Dimensions: the width and height in pixels. Save the new image at exactly the same size. Markers are placed by position on the image, so a different size moves them to the wrong spot.

Replace the map image

1. Go to Setup > Map.

2. Turn off Enable for checkout portal. Guests then don't see an incomplete map while you work.

3. Click Remove this map and confirm. Your markers are not deleted.

4. Choose the new image and click Upload.

5. Wait until the map is converted. This usually takes a few minutes. Click Reload the page to check.

6. Check that the markers are in the right place.

7. Turn on Enable for checkout portal again.

Map markers missing or in the wrong place

• No markers: the file name or extension differs from the old one. Remove the map and upload the image again with the old file name.

• Markers in the wrong place: the size differs from the old one. Upload the image again at the old size, or move the markers with the edit button in the map toolbar.

Good to know

• Does removing a map delete the object markers? No. The markers are stored with the file name and come back when you upload an image with that name.

• Can I give the new map a different file name? Yes, but then you have to place all object markers again.

• What happens to objects that are not on the old map? They are listed under Unprocessed objects. Place them on the new map as usual.

• Can the map be used in the back office while I replace it? No. Between removing and uploading, there is no map in BEX PMS or on your website.
