Importing and managing contacts for Campaigns
In the Contacts section of Campaigns, you can import contacts for import segments and also filter and manage contacts in other segments. Collectively, these contacts are the recipients of your Campaigns messages.
Importing contacts
Contacts to be imported are usually owners or other non-booker contacts that you have a list of. They will always be added to an import segment.
Open the Campaigns menu in your CMS, and go to the submenu 'Contacts'.
Click the blue 'Import' button in the top right of the page.
Select 'Email input' to enter email addresses as plain text, or select 'CSV upload' to upload a CSV file containing email addresses and any additional information.
An export of owners from BEX PMS can be uploaded as a CSV file.
Select the correct language for these contacts; this will determine in which language the contacts will receive any Campaigns messages.
Note that this means that you will have to separate contacts by language before uploading them here.
Enter a new segment name, indicating a shared characteristic of the uploaded contacts, or select an existing import segment to add them to.
Imports of contacts separated by language can still end up in the same segment this way.
It is mandatory to confirm that all individuals whose email addresses you are adding, have given explicit consent for marketing and newsletter communication. This is the Bookings marketing consent type, which stays valid until the contact unsubscribes themselves.
Click 'Add contacts' to finish.
Managing contacts
From the overview of your contacts you can look up a specific contact via the search bar, or filter contacts based on status, language, or segment. A contact’s consent depends on their status and through which segment type they were added.
Contact status
The status of a contact indicates whether they will actually receive any message sent to them, and if not, why.
Deliverable: The contact will receive campaigns messages.
Hard bounced: The contact’s email address is not in use anymore.
Spam complaint: The contact has marked campaigns messages as spam.
Unsubscribed: The contact has unsubscribed (withdrawn consent), and will no longer receive campaigns messages.
Blocked: The contact has been manually blocked by someone managing Campaigns contacts.
Segments filter
In the segments filter, you can select one or multiple segments to filter by. The segments are organized by segment type (Booker segment, Form segment, or Import segment).
Viewing and editing a contact
Click the email address of a contact to view their details. This includes:
Extended contact details
Any synced data from your BEX PMS if this contact also exists there.
The segments that this contact is a part of (there may be multiple).
The messages this contact has received.
Editing a contact
By clicking the blue 'Edit' button for a contact, you can manually change the following details:
First and last name
Language
Status
Note that manually changing an 'Unsubscribed' or 'Blocked' status back to 'Deliverable' requires you to re-confirm that explicit consent has been given by the contact.
Contacts unsubscribing themselves
Each sent Campaigns message contains an unsubscribe link. Contacts can click it to unsubscribe, which means they revoke their consent and their status changes.
