Themes & color schemes

A theme can be applied to a page. It determines the fonts used, and the rounding of buttons and other page elements. Each theme has one or more color schemes, which determine how your (brand) colors are used. There is always a default theme or color scheme that is applied when no other choice is made.

You’ll find both themes and color schemes in the 'Appearance' section of the CMS menu.

Creating a theme

  • When adding a new theme, the settings of the default theme are pre-filled, so you can easily make slight variations to the default for specific purposes.

  • Set the name, rounding for page elements and rounding for buttons, and the different fonts. The preview shows you what your choices look like in the default color scheme.

Tips

  • Make sure the theme settings match the look and feel of your brand.

  • Choose readable fonts that complement your website design.

Creating a color scheme

While a single theme applies to a page, different color schemes belonging to that theme can be applied to elements within that page; like a section, or a widget.

  • When adding a new color scheme, the settings of the default color scheme are pre-filled, so you can easily make slight variations to the default for specific purposes.

  • If there are multiple themes, select which theme this color scheme belongs to.

  • Set the name, background and text colors, and the primary and secondary colors for buttons and other page items. The preview shows you what your choices look like in the default theme.

Tips

  • Make sure the colors you choose align with your brand identity. Use colors from your logo or branding to maintain consistency.

  • Ensure there is enough contrast between text and background colors to maintain readability.

  • Do the chosen colors result in a good user experience? Use an eye-catching color for important buttons (call-to-actions) so users know intuitively where to click.
