Segments for Campaigns

Segments are the basic contact groups that you use to define your audience later. A single contact is usually present in multiple segments.

Go to 'Contacts' and click the 'Segments' button to view your existing segments.
You can create many different segments yourself when adding contacts. The segment type will show the source of the contacts in this segment.
Consent segments are special segments that are present by default.

Consent segments

There are a limited amount of default Consent segments.
All your contacts are part of at least one of these segments. It indicates the type of consent that was given, which lets you know what kind of messages the contacts in these segments would like to receive. When creating an audience, you select one of these segments as your base.

Consent segments:

  • Marketing messages
    General promotional messages and newsletters

  • Marketing messages related to booking
Promotional information for bookers, leading up to and during a stay. This consent is only valid between confirmation and check-out. If a booker opts out, this will also apply to their next confirmed booking.

  • Sales: Viewing information
Information for leads interested in specific properties

  • Sales: Real estate updates
Promotional information for contacts generally interested in real estate

  • Owners: Marketing messages
    Standard consent segment for owners

  • Owners: Service messages
    Standard consent segment for owners

Validity of consent

Unsubscribing by recipients

Recipients can choose to unsubscribe from messages of a specific consent category, or rescind all consent at the same time.

  • A manual unsubscribe action will always be respected, a new booking will not reactivate consent.

  • If the unsubscribe link is used without a specific context, the system defaults to unsubscribing from all marketing messages.

  • If necessary, you can edit a contact status. Note that you are responsible for the lawful processing of contact data and consent.

Related to booking

Consent for marketing messages related to booking is restricted by time. This segment is always changing according to the status of reservations in your PMS.

  • As soon as the checkout date of a reservation has passed, the booker’s consent for messages related to booking lapses.

  • If this booker makes a new reservation, this consent becomes valid again.

  • A cancelled reservation doesn’t actively rescind the consent for messages related to booking, however, it does influence how this booker qualifies for audiences.

Segment types by source

Segments of the type 'Booker' are created when you use the 'From bookings' option to add contacts from BEX PMS to Campaigns. You can create many different booker segments with different parameters. If new bookers are added to BEX PMS that fit the parameters of a booker segment, they are automatically added to this segment.

Segments of the type 'Imported' are created when you use the 'Add manually' option to add contacts to Campaigns. For these contacts, you need to explicitly state the type(s) of consent given.

Segments of the type 'Form' are created when you use the 'From forms' option to add contacts to Campaigns. All website visitors that fill out the linked form will be added as a contact. Here too, you need to explicitly state the type(s) of consent given.

If you use the the 'Add owners' option to add contacts to campaigns, these will always be added to the Owners segment, which has the type 'Imported'. These contacts will also automatically be added to both consent segments for owners.
It is possible for owners to unsubscribe from one of these consent segments, but they will need to do so themselves.
