You can use the translation module to have content in your BEX CMS translated automatically, saving you as a user a lot of time. You don't have to enter everything manually; everything is done for you. New content is added and in no time you are up-to-date for all languages on the website.
A complete and well-translated website ensures that visitors can easily navigate your website and make a reservation. Conversely, a poorly translated website will cause users to drop out more quickly.
We work with native speakers all over the world who are (at least) bilingual, making them fluent in both languages. By translating content into English first, we can offer the translations to a large group of translators. It is also possible to opt for translations via AI. This option is more cost-effective. In both cases, it is necessary to check translations.
Add a language to the BEX CMS
Before you can translate your website, the other languages must first be activated. You can do this under 'Settings' and then 'Languages'. Then you can add a new language, you do this by:
Choose the language you want to add to the website and press 'Save'.
Under 'Domain settings' you can choose either your own domain or the Booking Experts domain.
You can choose to make the language 'On Path' live. This means that, for example, /en or /de will appear after the Dutch domain. If you choose this, you don't need to register an extra domain.
The Booking Experts domain is a test domain. With this domain, you cannot put the website live. So always make sure you have a domain registered or choose 'On Path'.
The translation module in the BEX CMS
As a user, you have the option of navigating from the BEX CMS to the translation module. Here you can create translation settings, view the progress and have content translated again. To do this, go to 'Translation settings' in the left-hand menu.
Turn on automatic translations
If you have not worked with translations before or want to set up a new language, you can set this up per language. Go to the translation module, choose for which languages you want to set up the translation module. Enter the email address where you want to receive emails concerning the translations. Then indicate whether you want to order and/or approve translations automatically or manually. Then click on Set up translation service.
Automatic or manual ordering and approval
By default, ordering and approval is set to automatic. But you also have the option of choosing to order and/or approve translations manually.
Automatic ordering: Then the system automatically places an order with the translation module when the new content is live in Dutch and has not been edited for at least 1 hour.
Manual ordering: Then you always have to go to 'Translation settings' yourself and manually order the translations.
Automatic approval: Then the translations are automatically put on your website when all the translations for a section are ready. This means less worry and more speed.
Manual approval: Then you have 72 hours to check the translations after they are ready. After this time has passed, the translations are automatically approved.
Change translation settings
To do this, go to 'Translation settings' in the left menu. Click on 'Details' next to the language for which you want to change the settings. Then click 'Edit'.
You can now change the settings (instructions for translator, order method, approval method, email address where you will receive notifications and the language of this email). You can tell the translator whether you want formal or informal spelling, switch between automatic/manual ordering and/or approval, or change the email address if you want to use a different one. You can vary these settings per language.
