Create and open a register

You can create one or more registers. It is useful to create a separate register for each point of sale and to reflect this in the name. Once created, the registers must be opened for use.

Creating a register

On the main page of the POS module, click '+New' in the top right corner.
Give this register a name and determine the minimum amount of money you want to have in the cash drawer. This minimum amount of money is your change.
Then, decide whether you want to be able to use a barcode scanner, and which product groups should be shown, if there are any.
Click 'Save', and you will see the new register on the main page.

Repeat these steps to create more registers.

It is possible to use the same register on multiple computers, but keep in mind that the cash drawer must then also be shared.

Opening a register

A closed register has a red dot in the overview, an open register has a green dot. To open a closed register, click on the name.
Enter how much cash is present in the cash drawer. At the bottom, you can optionally leave a note, for example, if the count differs from what was expected.

The first time you open a register, fill the cash drawer with a good distribution of coins and notes. The total should be the minimum amount that was set when creating the register.

Then, click 'Create register count'. Your input is summarized and you can check it for any errors. If the input is incorrect, click 'Redo count' in the top left corner to go back and adjust.
If the input is correct, click 'Confirm'. The register is now open, and if products and payment methods are already available, you can now start a transaction.

A register should be closed and counted every day to log the daily proceeds and to quickly notice any cash differences.
