Google BigQuery: installation & settings

Google BigQuery enables comprehensive data analytics by automatically exporting property and reservation data to Google's enterprise data warehouse for advanced reporting and business intelligence.

In our App Store you can read more about what Google BigQuery can offer you.

How to install the app

Go to the 'Available apps' index, and use the search bar to find the Google BigQuery app. Click the 'Install app' button.

Complete the settings

1. Authorize BigQuery

What you'll do:

  1. Navigate to the BigQuery app in your organization's App Store, among the 'installations'.

  2. Click the Commands dropdown menu and select "Authorize BigQuery"

  3. You will be redirected to the BigQuery Authorization form:

    • Complete the OAuth flow with Google, as instructed on this page.

    • Provide your BigQuery client ID and client secret (obtained from your Google Cloud Console)

    • Grant the application permission to access your BigQuery project

  4. The system will securely store your credentials

Important Information:

  • You must have a Google Cloud Project with BigQuery enabled

  • OAuth credentials (Client ID and Client Secret) must be generated from your Google Cloud Console

  • The application requires permission to access BigQuery and manage datasets

  • Credentials are encrypted and securely stored

  • Authorization must be completed before data can be exported

  • You can use either OAuth credentials or a service account key for authentication

What happens after: Once authorized, your BigQuery connection is established. The system creates a dataset in your BigQuery project and begins tracking available data dimensions. You can now proceed to configure which data dimensions to export.

2. Configure data dimensions

What you'll do:

  1. Click the Commands dropdown menu and select "Dimensions"

  2. In the dimensions management page, all available data dimensions are shown.

  3. Use the "Synchronize everything" and "Stop all synchronization" buttons to manage all dimensions at the same time.

  4. Manage each dimension individually by clicking the name and editing it.

    • Activate/Deactivate: Determine whether data is synchronized

    • Set Creation Date: Include only data created after a specific date

    • Resync: Manually trigger a data synchronization for an active dimension

Important Information:

  • At least one dimension must be active for data export to occur

  • You can limit exports to data created after a specific date to optimize performance

  • Changes take effect immediately for active dimensions

  • Deletion events are automatically tracked and registered in BigQuery

What happens after:

  • Active dimensions begin syncing data to BigQuery automatically

  • Export jobs run in the background at regular intervals

  • You can monitor sync status and retry failed exports as needed

3. Review and update settings

What you'll do:

  1. Click the Commands dropdown menu and select "Settings"

  2. Verify your BigQuery project is properly connected

    • Review your configured dataset location (typically EU)

  3. Update location or project settings if needed

  4. Click "Save" to update settings

Important Information:

  • Settings page is only accessible after BigQuery has been authorized

  • Project location determines where your data is stored geographically

  • You cannot change location after initial setup without reauthorizing

  • All active dimensions will export data to the configured project

  • Settings changes may affect ongoing data export jobs

  • Ensure your Google Cloud project has sufficient quota and permissions

What happens after: Settings are updated and apply to all future data exports. Any changes take effect immediately.
