Closed to stay restrictions

Restrictions are used to control which types are bookable through which channels, and when. Manage your channel mix to optimize occupation and revenue.

Go to 'Restrictions' in the setup module.

How to use restrictions

With restrictions, you can close off availability per type, or per channel, or even for the entire park. This means you control when guests can book which accommodations, and through which channels. To help you make those decisions, the occupancy rate and ADR (Average Daily Rate) are displayed for each day.

  • Filters: Use the start date, segments, type and channel filters to create a compact overview that suits your needs.

  • Display: Determine the most effective grid view for your needs.

    • Type: lists all types

    • Channel: lists all channels

    • Type + channel: lists all types, each with a subset of applicable channels.

    • Channel + type: lists all channels, each with a subset of applicable types.

  • Jump to today: Quickly return to today’s date after viewing or editing future dates.

  • Use the Edit restrictions button to create restrictions or clear restrictions for any date range or type/channel.

  • Click any desired cell in the grid overview, or drag horizontally to select multiple cells. Selecting cells means the date and applicability settings of the restriction already correspond with the selection.

Edit restrictions

  1. Indicate whether you are restricting or clearing availability. If you selected clear cells or used the button, the default is 'Restrict'. If you clicked a restricted cell, the default is 'Clear'.

  2. Indicate when the restriction is to be applied.

    • Select 'Always' to create a continuous restriction.

    • Select a specific period to enter a date range.

Within the date range, it is possible to only apply the restriction to specific days of the week. By default, all days of the week are included.

  3. Under applicability, you can define the scope of the restriction.

    • Select 'Type + Channel' if you want to specify a combination of types and channels; e.g. closing all winter camping spots for Expedia or Glamping.com.

    • Select 'Type' to apply to one or more types, regardless of channel.

    • Select 'Channel' to apply to one or more channels, regardless of type.

    • Select 'Entire administration' to block (or clear) availability for the entire park. Use it, for example, to block availability when preparing rates for upcoming seasons, and clearing it when the time is right for new bookings to come in.

  4. Click 'Save' to create the restriction, or to clear existing restrictions.

Hierarchy of restrictions

Restrictions can be applied at multiple levels. Higher levels override lower ones:

  • Entire administration - Restricting the entire administration automatically restricts all types across all channels

  • Type - Restricting a type automatically restricts it across all channels

  • Channel - Restricting a channel automatically restricts it for all types.

  • Type & Channel

Reading the grid

Black cells show direct restrictions set at the current level. Grey cells show indirect restrictions overridden by a higher-level. Hover over any grey cell to see which direct restriction applies.

Important

  • When you switch views from 'Type + channel' to 'Channel + type' or vice versa, the previously created grey, indirect restrictions get redistributed according to the new view.

  • This can cause you to see seemingly random sub-restrictions.

  • It is recommended to check all views when trying to locate the source of a dependent restriction.
