Setting up the Search & Book

After you have set up your BEX PMS, you have to make sure that guests can make a reservation via your own website. You can either also use our CMS or keep your current website.

BEX CMS

Our CMS, i.e. our content management system for websites, is linked in real-time to our PMS and has many other useful features. For more information, please contact sales@bookingexperts.com

Keep your current website

If you continue using your current website and don’t make the switch to the BEX CMS, you connect your website via the Search & Book to your PMS. The Search & Book must run on the same domain as your website. To set this up, the Search & Book is placed on your website's subdomain(s).
Subdomains

Setting up the Search & Book on a subdomain

If you choose to keep your current website, you first have to add your domain. Then click on the domain to create a separate subdomain for each language. The part before your domain name, i.e. park.nl, denotes the subdomain, e.g. book. The following URLs could be used:

Dutch: boeken.park.nl/reserveren
German: buchen.park.nl/buchen OR buchen.park.de/buchen
English: book.park.nl/book OR book.park.com/book
French: reserver.park.nl/reserver OR reserver.park.fr/reserver

To achieve this, changes may need to be made to your domain's DNS records in your own system.

If we manage your domains, you don’t have to do anything with your DNS settings. If we don’t manage your domains, you or your system administrator have to change the status manually.
How can I set up my domain with BEX?, Domain management and DNS records

You need to set the following CNAME records for this purpose:

  • boeken

  • buchen

  • book

  • reserver

The value to be set for these records can be found by clicking on ‘DNS Status’ on the domain’s page in the PMS.

To see these values, all subdomains must be entered and set to live. There is no harm in setting the subdomains to live permanently, as the subdomain will only actually go live when an onboarding agent sets it up.

Integrating the Search & Book on your website

There are several options for integrating the Search & Book on your own website:

  • Deeplink to the Search & Book: You, or your website builder, can add a button on your website linking directly to the Search & Book website. This way, your website and PMS are connected.

  • Placing a form on your homepage: It’s possible to link to the Search & Book website via a form.

  • Full API Integration: It’s also possible to integrate the Search & Book using a Full API Integration.

Do you work with an external web agency and find it easier that this agency contacts us directly, or do you simply want more information yourself? Feel free to contact our colleagues from Booking Boosters to provide more information.

Marketing considerations

It’s important to make sure that the cross-domain tracking is set up properly which guarantees that a guest visiting your website in two different languages is counted as one visitor, among others.

You can ask our colleagues at Booking Boosters to set this up for you via Google Tag Manager or you can ask your marketing agency.
