Subdomains

While park.com is your domain, your actual website, www.park.com, lives on a subdomain. Subdomains can be used to offer your website in different languages.

If you connect your website with the PMS via the Search & Book on a subdomain, read more here: Set up search & book website

Add a subdomain

Click on the domain you just added and click on ‘+Subdomain’.

Languages and prefix

You can either add a separate subdomain for every language you need or add one subdomain and link several languages to it.

A separate subdomain for each language

If you create a separate subdomain for each language, you check one language and then enter the desired prefix. The prefix is what is written before your domain name, e.g. www.park.com. The www thus signifies your subdomain. You complete the settings for one language and then add a new subdomain. Your subdomains might look like this in the end:

English: www.park.com
Dutch: nl.park.com
German: de.park.com
French: fr.park.com

One subdomain for all languages

You add one subdomain with the prefix www, for example www.park.com. Then you choose the desired languages that will then run on different URL paths. A URL path is the part following the domain name, e.g. park.com/en. After having created the subdomains in your PMS, you can connect them to a language in your CMS. Your subdomains might look like this after you’re done:

English: www.park.com
Dutch: www.park.com/nl
German: www.park.com/de
French: www.park.com/fr

Brand

Here you can choose the brand in which the subdomain will appear. The brand will then be used in the portals for the respective language.
Set brands

Immediately live

You have to tick the box ‘Immediately live’. This process is automated if we manage your domain.
Domain management and DNS settings

When a subdomain is set to ‘live’, a SSL certificate to verify its authenticity and enable a secure connection is set up and the DNS settings are configured so that the subdomain can be used. From the moment you set it ‘live’, the subdomain is available online.

Do not check the box if you still want to use your old website, for example, when your new BEX CMS website is still being built.

Domain redirect

If you want to redirect guests to another website due to findability, for instance, you can do so here. You have two options:

  • Take over path: In this case, you redirect visitors to the same page, but in another language. That is why you don’t have to enter the full URL, e.g. you redirect them from www.park.de/something to www.park.nl/something.

  • Do not take over path: In this case, you redirect visitors to a completely different webpage. That is why you have to enter the full URL, e.g. you redirect them from www.park.de/something to www.park.nl/something-else.
