Using arrival and departure schemes

Arrival and departure schemes are used to control on which days your guests can check in or check out, for each type. This can be applied to enforce certain LOS, temporarily block availability altogether, or simply control which days are busiest for your reception and cleaning staff.

Create new scheme

Go to 'Arrival and departure schemes', in the Setup module. Click 'New scheme'. After giving it a name, you’ll see two tabs: 'Connected types' and 'Arrival and departure'.

  • Click 'Connect type' to start connecting one or more types. Consider connecting the same types that are connected to a price list to help manage online availability and LOS.

  • Go to the 'arrival and departure' tab to specify valid arrival and departure days.

    • Use the generator to set up your standard arrival and departure days for long into the future.

    • Activate or de-activate any deviating dates in the day-by-day overview.

Copy from other scheme

If you have already set up an arrival and departure scheme, and want to create a second one that is rather similar, save yourself time and use the button 'Copy from other scheme' to copy the content into your current arrival and departure scheme.

Managing online availability

Temporarily blocking dates from being available for booking online, through any channel, can be useful when configuring future prices.
Read more:

  • Block the availability of types connected to an arrival and departure scheme by using the arrival and departure generator to make all days of the week unavailable for check-in or check-out during a set date range.

  • Ensure the date range matches the period that you are configuring prices for.

  • After prices are finalized, edit the arrival and departure scheme again to re-activate your regular arrival and departure dates for this time period.

Stimulating lengths of stay

Arrival and departure schemes can be used to optimize yield from your price lists by stimulating certain LOS, during different times of year.

Example

Use the generator to only allow Fridays and Sundays as check-in and check-out days during the summer holiday date range:

  • Essentially forces your guests to book a midweek, weekend, full week, or a combination of those that begin and end on these set days.

  • When combined with LOS prices, your revenue becomes very predictable. When combined with night prices, you keep the flexibility of pricing rules.
