Test settings using Staging

Both BEX PMS and BEX CMS have a staging environment available, where you can safely edit data and run tests without affecting your live settings.

What is staging?

Your staging environment is a copy of your live environment, where you can test the effects of certain settings or actions without actually implementing them. This is useful if you are unsure which action to take, or if you want to see different settings in action to compare them.

Where do I access the staging environment?

In the topmost launch bar of your screen, in the right corner, you see two buttons: "{} Staging" and "~Live".

  • Click "{} Staging" to access the staging environment. You’ll notice that the light green launch bar turns red.

  • Switching back to your live environment is just as easy, just click "~Live".

Editing data in staging

When you access the staging environment, it will contain exactly the same information as your live environment does. You can change or add anything you want, but these changes are not permanently saved into the staging environment; if you access the staging environment again at a later time, it will once again be a copy of your live environment.

Data synchronisation in staging

Data from the BEX live environment gets synchronized once per day. This means that new settings that you have setup today, are not synchronized into the staging environment until the following day. This includes accounts from colleagues, changes to the PMS and all other changes you have made. As the synchronization takes place once a day, all settings you have changed in staging, will be overwritten by the live data the following day. Therefore, make sure to test something the same day, as the following day, it will be overwritten.
