Consent and segment management
To be able to send a Campaigns message to a contact, this contact must have given consent to receive it. There are multiple types of consent; some of which are only relevant if you use certain BEX modules, and can be managed by editing a segment.
When are the different consent types applied?
Consent for Stay-related Marketing
Applies to every booker contact, unless they have specifically opted out during the booking process.
Is valid from the time a reservation is confirmed, until 30 days after checkout.
Consent lapses automatically.
Consent for Newsletter Marketing
Applies when a contact has opted in for receiving newsletters. This can be during booking (booker segments), via a checkbox in a form (form segments) or set in the communication preferences of owners.
Is valid for as long as the contact does not revoke their consent (unsubscribe).
Consent for Service Messages
Is only available when using the Owner module in BEX PMS.
Is applied to owner segments, to send non-marketing information.
Needs to be explicitly set by editing the segment.
Is valid for as long as the contact does not revoke their consent (unsubscribe).
Managing segments
Open the Campaigns menu in your CMS, and go to the submenu 'Segments'. You can filter by segment type if needed. Click the name of a segment to open it and view its details, including a list of the contacts in that segment.
Use the segment overview to check whether your segments are correctly named, and to quickly check how many contacts are currently in each segment.
Editing import or form segments
Editing an import segment or form segment allows you to change the name of the segment, and set the type of messaging the contacts in this segment have consented to receive. More than one consent type can be true.
Consent types may differ depending on the sort of import that was done or the content of the form that feeds into a certain form segment.
Stay-related marketing is the only consent type that cannot be set for import or form segments, because it is limited to booker segments.
Contacts always have the option to unsubscribe themselves.
Editing booker segments
Editing a booker segment allows you to change the name of the segment, as well as edit all filters that determine which contacts end up in this segment. Consent types cannot be edited here, because the consent types of bookers are also sourced from BEX PMS.
